(Quarter I/2024)
Steam locomotive 62 1007 of the Deutsche Reichsbahn.
■ The only Class 62 locomotive with a computer number
■ Operating condition: 1970
The Class 62 was developed and delivered by Henschel for the Deutsche Reichsbahn-Gesellschaft in the 1920s. The engines were two-cylinder superheated steam locomotives. A total of 15 units were produced. Although the locomotives were built as early as 1928, the Deutsche Reichsbahn did not accept 62 003–015 until 1932. The reasons for this were the low demand and the too high price for the locomotives.
After the Second World War, eight locomotives remained with the Deutsche Reichsbahn. 62 007 was the only one to receive a computer number.
